All Solid Acacia from Kala!

This beautiful, all-solid Striped Acacia will turn heads and please ears. Decorative features include a slotted headstock with vintage styled gear tuners, custom abalone fret marker inlays, maple binding and vintage-style herringbone purfling. Acacia is also called Mimosa or Shower Tree; these tropical trees are cousins of the Hawaiian Koa Tree. They have gorgeous striped patterns of light and dark brown and have a deep colorful tone that match their beauty.

For the last decade this model has been one of our best selling models. The binding is now maple wood and the fretboard and bridge are walnut. They lightened the weight of this instrument and increased the resonance and the new SA-T is certainly one of the best options for a high quality, modestly priced solid wood tenor.

Take a listen to this sweet sound sample from Corey.

Great tenor at an incredible price Beautifull uke in solid satin acacia. Geat sound with very nice bright !!! Its aesthetic is a state of art- the curved back, the slothead and the fretboard inlays gives it a unique appearence. The neck is a bit tight , but it is just a couple of days to get used to it. The best relation quality/price.

Another well-made uke from Kala. The slotted headstock, unique fret markers, full solid acacia top and sides, and great intonation makes this instrument one of the best buys you can get that this price. The sound mellows over time, and having had this for close to three years, it has opened up very nicely. Tuned with a low G, it sounds excellent when strummed. Great bass and voice.

First off, great sounding and playing tenor uke - I got mine from HMS with a low G string and it's great to play. Loses one star owing to the quality of the tuning keys: 2 of the 4 on mine are flaky - that is to say that the shaft and thumb parts are not solidly connected, there's some give which makes tuning difficult; to give them their due, Kala sent me a full set of replacement keys so problem solved; however, these keys don't have a screw to tighten so if the shaft is loose you're stuck with it till replacement parts arrive.I think this is something Kala has to improve. Uke itself beautiful and sounds fantastic, and inlays are art, no question about it.

I had donne a lot of reasearch before upgrading from a starter makala tenor to a solid wood instrument. I was looking for something of the best quality that middle-end ukes could offer and ended up on this one. I find the aesthetics just perfect for its kind: the herringbone purfling and rosette are the perfect match for the smouth satin finish and the wine-like markers add a fancy note to the picture. It's strong built and the slothead adds a lot to it (great balance with the slightly curved back). The one i got has beautiful acacia, the soundboard looks golden and has slight curles to it that i really didn't expect to find in this price range. I may not be the best personne to judge its tone, but it sounds so much more"complete" than my laminated uke, a bell-like tone i've got nothing to complain about. Overall, one of the best ukes in its category, not aiming to be the shiniest, but the most elegant, and this really makes you pick it up often! Thanks a lot HMS <(^_^)>

I first played this Kala Slotted Headstock, acacia wood, tenor ukulele in a music store on Maui, when the sales man said, "try this one." I picked it up and played it and was amazed at the tone, and clarity of the notes. The strings may have something to do with that, but I have about 5-6 Ukuleles, all them Kamaka and each one was chosen for its sound, except a vintage one which I purchased from Ebay without playing it. Since the first day that I tried this Kala Tenor Acacia ukulele I have tried other ukes of the same model in other stores and I find the consistency of sound from uke to uke amazing for this price range. The wood is beautiful to look at. The Slotted headstock is just plain cool, and it keeps in tune just as well as the conventional headstock and tuner combinations that I have tried. I bought this Uke for my niece for Christmas and when I gave it to her, she was "speechless", turns out to be a figure of speech because she was absolutely thrilled and made a lot of non-speech sounds to make up for her "speechless" condition. I bought this ukulele from Hawaii Music Supply and it received the free set up that comes with every ukulele that they sell. Right out of the box it played beautifully. I got it with the Low G and couldn't have been more pleased. . .But my niece was absolutely thrilled and just seeing the joy on her face made my day.
