All Solid Acacia from Kala!

This beautiful, all-solid Striped Acacia will turn heads and please ears. Decorative features include a slotted headstock with vintage styled gear tuners, custom abalone fret marker inlays, maple binding and vintage-style herringbone purfling. Acacia is also called Mimosa or Shower Tree; these tropical trees are cousins of the Hawaiian Koa Tree. They have gorgeous striped patterns of light and dark brown and have a deep colorful tone that match their beauty.

For the last decade this model has been one of our best selling models. The binding is now maple wood and the fretboard and bridge are walnut. They lightened the weight of this instrument and increased the resonance and the new SA-T is certainly one of the best options for a high quality, modestly priced solid wood tenor.

Take a listen to this sweet sound sample from Corey.

This was my second uke after a year playing more or less. This uke really sounds great and looks gorgeous. It´ll be difficult to find in this range of price another uke with this quality. I strongly recommend it.

I wasn't sure I wanted to spend this much on my first uke, but after reading a multitude of reviews, then hearing Corey play it, there was no other instrument (apart from an Hawaiian Koa) that would do. When it arrived so quickly, set up professionally and almost as lovely looking as the photos, I was thrilled to bits. Whilst this Kala doesn't project as well as other ukes I've played (I wish I'd gotten an amp installed to play on stage), it certainly has a beautiful bell-like clarity that I know is only going to improve with time. Everyone who sees it comments how beautiful the wood grain is. Not to mention that gorgeous slotted headstock! It hardly ever goes out of tune and the natural finish feels amazing to play. The 'uke crazy' canvas covered case and humidifier are a few more extras that just confirms HMS' reputation as a high quality, reliable online instrument dealer. Based on this experience, I'd definitely buy from HMS again.

I have many ukuleles and different brands. This one is my least expensive one but I can tell you that it is the easiest to play! The tone is right up there too and just a great all round ukulele for those not wanting to spend $500+ or $350+ to be exact! I bought this because of all the great reviews all over the web and because of the price tag, a real diamond of a find! You will not be disappointed!

After playing guitar for many years, I finally decided to try the ukulele. After much research, I settled on this Kala Acacia Tenor model. And after playing it for a month I am really pleased with it. It has a great sound, and a lovely look and feel. As a woodworker, I noticed a few surface blemishes on the finish (that don't affect the playing), but other than that it is a well made instrument for the price, and I would recommend it to anyone!

I received my Kala asac-t two days ago 11/27/12. The action was so high you could have flown a biplane between the fretboard and strings and still had room to for stunts! The neck joint had a obvious high spot on it that could not be overlooked. this from what I have read and herd from HMS is not uncommon for this slot head! I was not stoked! I sent it back 15 minutes after getting it! I then purchased the Pono. The Pono -AT is the same price. no bells and whistles on it but it blows the Kala out of the water for ease of play, TONE and accurate tuning! The ukulele even has a tress-rod in it! best $349 ukulele in the world! get it and you will not be sorry. Do you want a ukulele to "stare at from a far" or do you want to play and make music? Two ukuleles, two options!
