The MT is a fairly simple tenor with less "frills" than others. The tone and playability are where it's at with this model. And the new look is sharp! The construction and finish is very clean, with a transparent smooth satin, almost semi-gloss, natural finish. If you want a good look without it being shiny, this may be the right uke for you.

The ebony at the bridge, fingerboard, and headstock, and even the black buttons on the Grover tuners follow the two-toned theme with mahogany. This is Honduran solid quarter-sawn mahogany, a high-quality tonewood. The superior acoustic qualities are apparent. Many have gigged and recorded albums with this model. This latest batch, with ebony and being re-voiced, is the best Pono MT yet!

This has always been one of the most loved models in store and on the website. The Pono MT has a bone nut and saddle, Grover geared tuning keys, and a dual-action truss rod for adjusting the neck. But just looking at the "specs" won't really tell you how good an ukulele is. The great thing about this instrument is the sound and feel.

This ukulele gets glowing reviews. That's not for nothing. I bought this Pono with a pick-up installed (the MT-E) and received it in a lovely Ohua case. This ukulele is really well finished and is a joy to play. Very nice satin finish that you just can not stop hugging and caressing. I changed the strings though. I didn't like the strings it came with and put some Worth Clears with a low G on it. The Pono came to life immediately. Lovely sounding ukulele well worth it's money!

I was so jealous of my girlfriends MT after hearing hers I had to get one for myself. I love how it sings, mellow and strong. This also feels good in the fret hand. Even though it may not have a glossy finish it is beautiful to look at. It almost seems as if the body is carved from a single piece of wood.

I was looking for less expensive ukulele that I could use as a travel uke instead of my Ko'olau T2 Tenor. I was very surprised with my purchase. Although it is Ko'olau's import model, it has Ko'olau's high quality construction standards incorporated into it. I did notice that the solid mahagony body does not have the sustain of Koa but regardless the sound is still clean and bright. I have it strung with Worth Clear High G strings. It plays with ease and intonation is right on. The only thing I have added are strap buttons. I prefer Satin Finishes over Gloss because I believe Satin projects better sound than Gloss, but this is just my own opinion. If you are considering purchasing ukulele of good quality but are budget minded and want good continued customer service, you cannot go wrong by purcasing the Pono MT Tenor. Dec.29, 2012

With so many glowing reviews it's obvious this is a fantastic instrument for the price. I was reluctant at first as I find mahogany to be a boring and rather plain wood and went back and forth between this one and the Pono Acacia Tenor. In the end, sound won out and I went with this model and couldn't be happier. My Pono is strung with Ko'olau Mahana strings which have a wound G and C string. The sound is mellow and just what I was looking for. I think I'll end up trying an unwound set of strings eventually for comparison as I'm not sure if I like the feel of the wound strings. I will eventually be adding a concert uke to the collection and Pono will be at the top of the list of candidates.

This is a really fine instrument, well build classy, with excellent projection. It is quite precise yet. The only thing I may not like so much about this pono is that... being versatile, the sound may lack a bit of personality. But that's just me - and if you only want one ukulele, that's a good pick.
