This Pono MSD is an all solid mahogany soprano with a gloss finish. It has a very full, "warm" tone and has been one of our most popular sopranos in the store for over a decade.
One thing to note is that these mahogany series Pono's are more expensive than the Acacia series ones. With most companies doing just the opposite, charging more for acacia, I asked Ko'olau why they did this. It's simple, "This is a very high quality Quarter Sawn Mahogany wood that costs us more than the Acacia wood, and many people prefer the tone of Mahogany over any other wood." This MSD model is one of the best sopranos on the market. Come down to the store in Haleiwa or buy one from the site and experience this super fun soprano for yourself!

Exceptional ukulele at a great price! 0 people found this helpfulThis ukulele sounds great! I appreciate good fit an finish, but the sound quality of an instrument is what motivates me most to play and practice. No doubt that this instrument is a joy to play because of the excellent setup from HMS combined with the quality in design and construction by the manufacturer. I cannot find the blemish on the one I purchased and received from HMS. Any blemish must be an extremely minor cosmetic one. At less then 50% of full retail, this is an exceptional deal. I also really like the canvas covered case I purchased with this ukulele. This was my first purchase from HMS and I am a very satisfied customer.

Great ukulele 0 people found this helpfulI'm really happy with my Pono MS. The blemish was very minor, there was a very small mark (about the size of a finger print) with no satin finish on it. I changed the strings to Worth Clear Fluoro-Carbon Medium CM and they really suit the ukulele well, they made it sound even nicer. The friction tuners are very easy to use and I'm very pleased with the quality of them. The Pono MS would be a good choice for a beginner or for anybody who doesn't want to spend a fortune on a ukulele.

FULL RICH SOUND 0 people found this helpfulAmazingly big and rich sound from this little thing. It was my first Pono and will definitely not be my last. As for the "blemish", i've given up guessing what made this a second. It looks so simply great and sounds even better--i'm sure thanks to the set up from this fabulous store. Has to be one of the best bang for your buck deals anywhere. Especially with The Ukulele Store's setup.

Lovely little ukulele 0 people found this helpfulI've had my Pono soprano for a couple of weeks now, and can't seem to just set it aside. I love it's sound, even if my fingers get confused going from one sized uke to another. I have a Pono MHT, and love it's glossy finish, but the soprano's satin finish suits it just fine. Not a big fan of friction pegs, but if I get really upset about it, it's something that's easily changed. I love the setup on it and love buying from HMS. One day, I'll be lucky enough to get back to Oahu, and stop in to say hi. I hope I'd be there to buy a new uke. UAS is alive and well, at my house. Mahalo nui loa, HMS, for a great deal, and a wonderful uke! Aloha.
