The MT is a fairly simple tenor with less "frills" than others. The tone and playability are where it's at with this model. And the new look is sharp! The construction and finish is very clean, with a transparent smooth satin, almost semi-gloss, natural finish. If you want a good look without it being shiny, this may be the right uke for you.
The ebony at the bridge, fingerboard, and headstock, and even the black buttons on the Grover tuners follow the two-toned theme with mahogany. This is Honduran solid quarter-sawn mahogany, a high-quality tonewood. The superior acoustic qualities are apparent. Many have gigged and recorded albums with this model. This latest batch, with ebony and being re-voiced, is the best Pono MT yet!
This has always been one of the most loved models in store and on the website. The Pono MT has a bone nut and saddle, Grover geared tuning keys, and a dual-action truss rod for adjusting the neck. But just looking at the "specs" won't really tell you how good an ukulele is. The great thing about this instrument is the sound and feel.

Just keeps getting better 0 people found this helpfulI bought this ukulele from HMS about a month ago, and it it sounds better the more I play it. I love the satin finish on this - in particular the neck has a very nice feel. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Perfect choice for your second or first uke. 0 people found this helpfulI purchased this tenor based on the videos and reviews on this site and elsewhere online. I found the build quality to be very good, the neck is a little wider than my previous uke (a lanikai tenor) which I feel is more comfortable. The tuners work great and the set up done from the HMS store was perfect. I love the simple looks of this Pono Tenor, the satin finish feels soft and smooth, and the logo and ebony headstock plate are a nice touch. My Pono tenor played perfectly right out of the box. The sound is very warm and I find it a joy to play. I have owned this uke for six months and it seems to sound better everyday. If I had anything negative at all to say it would only be that the satin finish is a little on the soft side so be careful of scratching the finish because that can happen fairly easy..At this price, I bought this uke to play everyday and a few dings and scratches have only made me bond with my Pono even more. But if you are the type of person who happens to be somewhat clumsy and will lose your mind over worrying about keeping your uke perfect you may want to look at the deluxe model with the gloss finish for a little added protection. The Pono tenor is a great choice for anyone looking for an everyday player, or looking to upgrade to thier first all-wood uke.

Huge step-up from my $100 Costco Uke 0 people found this helpfulSeveral years ago, I purchased my first ukulele (Lyon by Washburn LU5 Concert size) at a Costco store in Maui. After a couple years, I wanted to get a solid top tenor. I originally thought I wanted the Acacia model, but after playing both, I loved the mellowness of the Mahogany so I purchased this. I have since restrung it with the Ko'olau Golds which are slightly brighter strings and I love it even more! It's got a mix of bright and mellowness which I adore.

Beautifully made tenor uke. 0 people found this helpfulI'm very happy with my Pono MT. The workmanship is great and it is very easy to play. The string action was well adjusted and the intonation is spot on. This uke lends itself well to fingerstyle playing. Mine has the passive pickup which works well plugged straight into a Fishman Loudbox Mini amp even without a pre-amp. This is probably one of the least expensive professional quality ukes you will find. I'm still searching for the best strings to give me the sound I want. I'm going to try the Worth Browns next.
