Corey samples the famous KoAloha concert.

This is a new koa ukulele made 100% right here in Hawaii with solid koa wood. This is one of the most popular choices for Hawaiian-made instruments. Because of that we cannot keep them in stock, but when we do it's a treat. The KoAloha concert has a beautiful voice that can go from soft and beautiful to explosively loud! At any dynamic range it's full of vibrant tone. Plus, it's easy to play with a smooth feel you'll love!

KoAloha concerts usually come with friction tuners. This batch has upgraded hipshot KoAloha 25 year anniversary geared tuners at no upcharge.

This new KCM-00 with abalone logo inlay, and an ebony bridge and fingerboard with abalone fret markers. That along wiith gorgeous koa wood and the new gloss finish make the KoAloha concert more beautiful than ever.

If you had yours eyes open for a good Hawaiian-made instrument, this one sounds sweet, feels great, and looks beautiful.

The Koaloha concert koa uke brings together all the qualities I’ve been looking for in a uke: an instrument of great playability with vibrant, sweet and very precise sound. The simple details of the finishing make it a very elegant instrument.

The KoAloha Concert was the second premium uke I purchased after my Kamaka Tenor HF-3. I had been focused on Tenors and was very satisfied with my Kamaka. However, while doing some innocent test-driving at the uke section of the store, not particularly looking for anything, I came across the KoAloha Concert. This uke jumped off the wall and into my hands and I had a really hard time letting it go that day. The sound was so crisp and punchy that it was obvious to everyone around me at the store that it was something special since numerous bystanders noticed the difference from the others I had been testing. LIke the basic Kamaka, the KoAloha is also simply adorned with the Koa wood being the focal point of the design. I also like the Koa fretboard on this as it has a fluidity to it unlike any other fretboard I've played. The similarities to Kamaka end there, though, as this KoAloha sound is very distinctive with lush brightness and is a great compliment to my Kamaka. I also have found I really like the Concert size. This uke is light as a feather.

I bought a used KCM-00 from someone who got it as a wedding gift and "never played it". It is a 2006 model with a one piece front and back. It plays great, sounds great and projects like crazy. It is audible hammering out rhythm with a dozen violins, and plays quiet solo fingerstyle just as nicely. I'm not crazy about the Christian symbolism of the logo and the headstock design, but I love the soundhole shape, the playability and the tone!

Everything they say about Koaloha is correct. The sound of my Concert blows me away. It's voice is bright and loud with a great sustain and perfect intonation. I've never played a custom but I can't imagine them being much better. Build quality and finish are very very good and after a year of playing it, I still don't see any marks on it. If I could find a fault, it would be that aesthetically I prefer having a rosewood or at least darker fretboard and that's a pretty small nit.

  5. First one had problems but KoAloha took care of it 0 people found this helpful

The first instrument I received was plagued with a rare phenomenon -- wolf tones. Nothing would help. KoAloha stands behind their instruments in every way and and are the BEST for working with should problems arise. They were unable to find the cause of the "wolf tones" (a decidedly difficult thing to do in fretted instruments) so replaced the instrument with one which is fine. It plays very well and has excellent intonation, however, the tone on the 11th fret of the 1st string has a very rapid decay and loses its richness. The tone on all other frets is fine. Tried many different strings to try to solve the problem. Oh, well.... Other than that, the tone is the rich KoAloha tone we all expect.
