The AT has been a hit for the last decade, but this latest version looks and sounds better than ever! It now has an ebony bridge, fingerboard, and faceplate. The sound is warm and full with wonderful projection.

Acacia is part of the same family of trees as Hawaiian Koa, and it comes from a very similar species found throughout Asia. This instrument was built on one of the Indonesian Islands, with hands-on guidance and quality control from the Ko'olau Ukulele Company. The finest instrument makers construct these instruments to Ko'olau specs and design. This satin finish is very clean. The woods selected for this model are beautiful and instrument grade, as well as cut and dried properly.
A key feature, in all of the Pono tenors and baritones, is the dual-action adjustable truss rod. The truss rod stabilizes and adjusts the lengthwise forward curvature, also called relief, of the neck. It can be easily adjusted from inside the soundhole using the included allen wrench. Over time and with humidity changes this is a very useful option to have.

Beautiful Instrument; Sounds Fine 0 people found this helpfulI really, really wanted to love this instrument. But when I played it, it didn't speak to me and another uke came home with me. First, the good. Pono's Acacia Tenor is a beautiful instrument, and the fit and finish of it is all top notch. Really impressive and much nicer than most ukes at this price. However, I found the sound of the uke I played to be a bit dull and muddy. Sound is a very personal thing, and it could have been the strings or the particular instrument I played, but it just didn't have the same bell tones and ring that I've heard online in sound samples. With that said, I still gave this uke 5 stars all around because it is an incredible instrument. Try before you buy if you can to find the instrument that really "speaks to you." This one didn't do it for me, but it might speak to you so give it a try.

I love it 0 people found this helpfulI'm reintroducing myself to the Uke after 50 years. I had my first lessons not 5 miles from the Pono offices. The sound is crisp and clean. It plays easily and looks sharp. A joy to be playing again with this instrument! DC

Awesome ukulele 0 people found this helpfulOne fantastic uke at a fantastic price. Weather you are just beginning and want a great uke or already a player and want a fantastic value for that next instrument, this is it. You get that Koa sound without the Koa price. The design and details are simple but the sound and play-ability are not to be beat. For those of you that don't like finger prints, this satin finish is beautiful.

Excellent ukulele 0 people found this helpfulI ordered this ukulele back in September as an upgrade from a Luna Concert. I have to say I am beyond pleased with this purchase. It's a beautiful instrument with a beautiful sound. I played it for a couple weeks with the wound C string, and then re-strung with the low G. Oh my, the rich sound that comes out of this ukulele is amazing, and I can barely put it down. I cannot recommend this enough.
