Pono ATD - Acacia Tenor Deluxe

Quarter Sawn Solid Acacia Wood -Gloss Finish

Select your instrument from the serial number dropdown above.

This model from Pono gives us quality and musicality never seen in this price range. The ATD is gorgeous in every way. Features include rich tone, great sustain, perfect feel, and beautiful all solid Acacia wood!

Kalei gives us a short review and sample as well with the Ko'olau Aho Smoothwound Low G set.

The ATD is dynamic. It will work with any style of music, any popular set of string. Perfect with a low G, showing off a robust lower range, or with a high G, still giving us a surprising depth. This all solid wood tenor ukulele has it all! A refined classic style, glossy exotic woods, and a beautiful voice. This Pono is an excellent value on a professional quality tenor ukulele. It has less flash than some of the other models, but the wood is gorgeous and the tone is very warm and sweet, and the construction is meticulous.

Acacia is a family of trees that Hawaiian Koa belongs to. This is not Hawaiian Koa but comes from a very similar species. Ko'olau is exacting in their woods being quarter sawn and dried properly. This is an essential factor in the precision you experience with the Pono ATD.

This Gloss finish really sets this model off. It's wonderful to just look at. But the key to this model is a sweet balanced tone with wonderful intonation and fantastic sustain. With think you'll love it.

I purchased this ukulele about four months ago and have not been disappointed. When I opened the case the instrument looked great, the gloss finish and wood grain were beautiful. I’m picky when it comes to cosmetics and construction so I started looking for flaws. This is a very finished product, joints, hardware, frets, tuners, wood grain, everything smooth with a good solid fit. It plays in tune and stays in tune. As far as sound and playability, that’s up to the individual, but I am very satisfied. I'm using Worth strings and it plays warm and smooth.

Received my Pono ATD as a Christmas present, and it is beautiful! I prefer a smooth satin finish but I'll adapt, LOL. The look, fit and finish of this instrument will knock your socks off. The hard O'ahu case fits it like a tight fuzzy glove. My other instruments have cedar, mahagony, and spruce tops, and it took a while for my ears and sensibilities to adjust to the different resonance of the solid acacia. Strumming, I was a bit disappointed at first, but when I started finger picking I was wowed. I soon found it was best to be aggressive with this little beauty, and the notes will ring out strong, full, loud and proud. Of course, strings matter, and some day I'll try out the other sets that came with it. Merry Christmas.

Very nice uke! Even after using for 3 month I still think it produces pretty nice sound, and keeping it even after getting a new uke

Although not as striking as the picture on the website, it plays and sounds great. Lots of sustain, nice wide neck and a great case makes this a solid value. I especially appreciate the setup which made it immediately pleasing to play. The only aspect I don't like is the wound C string - I requested and got a G that is not wound but expected all to be non-wound; my error, but it grates on the ear and seems unnecessary. That is of course easily changed out.

I bought this after a month of research for a good first uke. I knew if I got a really cheap one I'd be done with it in a month but didn't want to spend 1K in case I decided it wasn't for me. After 2 months of playing it and a couple lessons I LOVE this little guy! I got it to play tunes for my baby who really loves it as well. We play and sing every night before bed now. The only down side is it's a gateway drug and now I want to try out some really fancy ukes to compare! :D Can't go wrong with this uke.
