This is the brand new Pro Classic Acacia model from Pono. The Acacia series has been a popular choice at the shop because it plays great and sounds wonderful. They are warmer in tone than many expect from an Acacia ukulele and the build quality is right on point.
This new version features a new wood rosette, gloss body and faceplate, but a smooth satin neck for easy sliding along the fretboard. The weight on these new models is slightly less and the necks are a bit less chunky than previously. All in all this new Pro Classic comes with added improvements in voicing and design at the same price as the previous model.
As you can hear the new AT-PC Pro Classic has a wonderful tone with a full, articulate voice. The sound sample was with the stock Ko'olau Alohi high w 3 set but this would also sound great with a low G set up.
This model, like all new Pro Classics from Pono has a radius fingerboard. It's not an extreme radius and is hardly noticeable until pointed out. But it surely adds to the comfort of play. Displayed and protected by the cleanest gloss finish yet from Pono. This glassy smooth lacquer finish is extremely strong yet just a few thousandths of an inch thick. This "lets the wood really speak."
Pono only uses solid woods, only bone nut, and saddle. wood bindings, and no plastics. They have a climate-controlled factory on the island of Java and diligently aim for perfection on every level. It shows!

More Than Expected 0 people found this helpfulI've had my AT-PC for several months now, and every day it delivers more and more pleasure to me. The looks are simply phenomenal. The pictures on the website are great, but when I first opened the case, it was, "WOW!" As for playability, it is dynamic and warm. What more could you ask for? I got mine with the Pono pickup. It, too, sounds great, and went beyond my expectations. Other reviews on this site compliment the staff at TheUkuleleSite.com, almost to the detriment of the instruments they sell. I must add my complimentss to everyone there, from the advice before the purchase, to the set-up, to the shipping. Everything was perfect. Thank you. Top-notch, sounds terrific 0 people found this helpfulAfter gathering much information on tone woods and comparing many makes and models, I recently purchased this Acacia Tenor - Pro Classic. It was a terrific choice! I don't want to put it down and when I do, I find myself just admiring it. It has beautiful grain and coloration in the wood with a fit and finish that is exceptional for a production uke. This is my second Pono Pro Classic and the quality of these instruments is top-notch. I had HMS string this with low-G and it sounds terrific! It has a wonderful, warm tone with great balance and clarity. It's a little more expensive, but definitely worth it. With expert set-up and great service, I'll be back to HMS when I have saved up enough for my next ukulele.

Couldn't be happier 0 people found this helpfulThis is a beautiful, well made ukulele and it sounded incredible with the low-G. I must said that I am so glad that I took the advise from the site and went for the more expensive Pro Classic model since recently I also bought a none Pro Classic Pono thinking there can't be that much of differences but I was so wrong! The differences are night and day, the Pro Classic just sounded SO much better like a pro instrument. Highly recommended.
