We used to always get older Martin ukes in our repair shop and have refinished over 50 old Martin’s. We are very familiar with the old Martin ukes and this Kiwaya KTS-4 replicates the vintage Style 0 in look, sound, and feel like no other uke being made. In fact, it sounds as good as the vintage Martin’s and the wood has not even aged yet!!

If you lust after the old Martins but don't want to bother with the problems of old vintage ukes, then this is the uke for you. Has that old twang that only vintage instruments are capable of, but brand spanking new! in love!

This is a lightly built and sweet sounding uke that looks like a Martin but does not have the plinky Martin sound, that I like, in my opinion. The action is so low on my uke that I can't believe it dosn't buzz anywhere. This is probably one of the few instrument HMS does not need to set up since there's not much room for improvement out of the factory. It really feels like an old instrument that's in perfect shape. I didn't like the Hilo black strings it came with at first but Aquila's did not work for me. Worths were good but I like the D'Addario black nylon strings best with this instrument. These are just a little more in cost than the excellent Ponos but at a much higher level of quality. I highly recommend this brand.

  3. Sounds like a bell ringing 0 people found this helpful

This little Soprano is flawless and delicate; very light with a bell-like tone that is hard to duplicate in any other Ukulele I've played. Usually I play Tenor size but I would never give this one up. Many songs just sound better on this Ukulele.
