An Exclusive Kala Model made for The Ukulele Site!

We have been serious fans of the solid cedar top models in Kala's line. We asked them to combine that with the striking beauty of their Ziricote line. This exotic hardwood is a three piece laminate. It carries all the look of a super high end custom instrument. The sound of this tenor is absolutely fantastic! The volume is exceptional and it has that open, or broken in, quality you can get from a high quality solid western red cedar top.

Take a listen to a dry sound sample and review from Kalei with high and then low G.

This tenor has a really attractive ziricote framed off with padauk, a bold looking wood with its deep earthy red color. The solid cedar top gives a big warm, but clear tone we think you will love.

The design and wood choices on this tenor compliment each other creating a truly beautiful instrument.  You would be hard pressed to find a better ukulele at this price.

This ukulele punches way above its weight class. I picked this guy up because I wanted a uke to keep at work or travel with. Looked on the ukulele site and saw this exclusive HMS kala cedar top ukulele with beautiful ziricote back and sides, also a slot head. Decided hey why not. This uke looks like custom. All I could say is wow. This uke is warm but really projects. It is really loud and sounds great. And this uke really surprises me on how great it is for the price. I'm fortunate enough to have some K brand ukes and I think the ukulele can hang. One thing that I would also like to add is to string it up with some nice fluorocarbon strings. Im using Fremont Blacklines and Soloist Low G and it sings:) Also if you are also looking at the Kala (ATP) acacia model or this one. This one is louder and sounds better. I had them both and the Ziricote seem lighter, louder, and more resonate. At least from my ears. $275 is a steal for this bad boy. Highly recommend.

I am a novice ukulele enthusiast. The ukulele has become a wonderful way for me to relax and connect to the aloha spirit. I've now owned this ukulele for long enough to give an honest opinion. You would be hard pressed to find a better value at this price point. The build quality is top notch. The gloss finish makes the ziricote wood grain really candy to the eye. I am a fan of the cedar top. While having a slightly warmer tone than spruce, cedar can projects well with loudness and clarity that we all enjoy. Paduuk binding is a wonderful aesthetic contrast which I feel is pleasing and complementary. Kala and HMS really hit a home run with this uke and topped it off with the slotted head stock! Andrew and his crew set up my uke to play like a dream. I opted for the low G and couldn't be more pleased. Aloha from the sunshine state!

Just received my Kala ZTP-CTG (exclusive) ukulele. I was initially looking to get the Kala KA-ATP-CTG as a uke to keep at work. I was looking for one and saw this ukulele site exclusive. I have to say it is beautiful and the gloss finish is gorgeous! The uke is much lighter weight than what I had expected. It is much lighter weight than my Pono MTSH and about the same weight as my HF-3. The Ziricote has a very nice pattern and looks great. I was a little concerned that the Paduuk Binding and Rosette was going to be too red but it is more of a reddish/ brown. The contrast of the bindings with the Ziricote sides/back and Cedar top is perfect. Im also a sucker for slot head ukes. I think the faceplate is Ziricote. As far as the sound. It projects very well and pretty loud. My other ukes are solid wood ukes but this sounds pretty good for what it is. I have only had it for a couple hours so I expect it to settle in some after some play time. I will probably change out the strings because I am not a fan of the Aquila sound. Not sure if I could comment on the cedar top yet. Thanks Andrew and the HMS/Ukulele team for this great uke!
