This model is from Kala's special edition scallop series. It features all solid mahogany with rosewood appointments including a smooth scoop cutaway normally only seen in high end custom ukes. It has a beautiful gloss finish and a wonderful sweet tone we think you'll love. Take a listen as Kalei gives a raw sound sample of this new tenor.
Even though this ukulele is not inexpensive it's still an excellent value. First off it's very well made and it sounds great! Beyond that, it has a classy design with attractive mahogany, and a fantastic gloss finish that protects the wood but is thin enough to let the wood speak, as you can hear. It has the scallop rosewood cutaway, giving access to the highest frets with ease, and it has a beautiful sound all the way up. This model comes with open gear Grover tuners, Graphtech Nut & Saddle and Kala's signature artichoke and leaf inlay. Couple that with the setup work we put into it and you will love the sound and the feel!!
We set up each instrument to ensure you get the absolute best for your money! This includes Saddle and Nut heights, Fret work (usually planing or "dressing"), intonation checks, and a thorough inspection for cosmetic flaw. This is crucial for this middle price range where you can really get close to a high end tenor feel from our work. We are always dedicated to giving you honest and expert service and advice!
We always include a humidifier with solid wood instruments. However, if you live in a dry area or use indoor heating or cooling for part of the year, please upgrade to the Oasis humidifier to properly protect this solid wood ukulele.

Color is different than photo 0 people found this helpfulHappy with my purchase. The color in photo is misleading. Not as much grain and stain is a soft brown.

Great Ukulele and Very much worth the Price!! 0 people found this helpfulThis is an absolutely wonderful uke. I have been playing for a little over a year and upgraded from a Lanikai Soprano to the beautiful instrument. The moment I saw it and picked it up I knew I had to have it. I made the mistake of not buying it through the Ukulele Site, and I had to do a lot of setup on my own. My only recommendation is to put different strings on it. I'm not entirely sure what comes on standard with the ukulele, as that isn't specified anywhere. I put the Aquila New Nylgut strings on it, and the sound opened right up. Love this Ukulele and I forsee it being a very long time before I find the need to upgrade.

Excellent mid-range uke! 0 people found this helpfulI was extraordinary impressed with instrument. It is incredibly loud, which I did not anticipate with mahogany and a gloss finish. I have it string with a low-g, and the miss and bass are outstanding. The tone I get is rich and warm and full, more like a small classical guitar than anything else. I think most ukulele players would prefer the tone with a high g. The finish had some very miniscule imperfections, as to be expected in this range of instrument. Over all, the asthetic is excellent, the dark woods and gold tuners really work well together. My instruments top had some nice figuring as well, prettier than most of the stock pictures I've seen. It plays as excellent ly as you would expect, having been set up by Hawaii music supply. Definitely a quality player. Extraordinary value.
