Kala Tenor Mahogany Gloss

This is a sharp lookin' tenor that plays great! We recommend getting the full set up for the best results! This Kala Mahogany tenor with its beautiful gloss finish is certainly a great deal. It takes a jump in quality from the popular KA-T by adding a smooth gloss finish, purflings and a rosette. The price is only a small step up to what many consider a much more attractive ukulele.

What did I do? I NEVER should have bought this uke! Now, I want to quit my job, sell the house and live in a van under the bridge just so that I can spend the whole day playing this thing! Beautiful sound and construction. Easy action means easy playing for a novice like me. Seriously though...this is one of the best beginner tenors out there. The set-up these guys do is flawless. Packaging, transit and everything else was above and beyond. When I'm ready for an upgrade, it'll be HMS without hesitation. Mahalo

When I opened the packaged box I was surprised at the quality look of this ukulele. It exceeded my expectations. This is my first uke that I've bought for myself. I used to play my cousin's Kamaka tenor years ago but I couldn't justify spending that much for something I wasn't sure I'd pursue. Grabbing this uke has changed that. It only fed my longing for a more expensive/quality uke. Thank you HMS for catering to us beginners. Shipping time was a bit slow, but it was worth the wait. I will definitely be ordering from HMS again. Probably a Pono next time.

It was my second uke after a Lanikai LU21 soprano. Back then, I'm still experimenting with uke size, and it seems I'm most comfortable with tenor. I like it very much. I got mine locally in Malaysia. Sounds loud and crisp, and certainly great uke.

I own two Uke's myself a Fender and a Lanakai, to be perfectly honest I have played many uke's at the local stores and they were not impressive, I honestly believe that the set up makes all the difference in the world. Having said that to my ears the Kala TG has a certain ring and tone to it that appeals to me not overly bright but certainly not flat either. A beautiful finish and quality set up make it a very good buy for your money. Trust me for under 200 dollars get a ukulele that has been properly set up , it makes a world of difference. Dennis

Purchased this model recently from my local music store because I wanted a tenor for low G tuning. For being an inexpensive laminate, it has an outstanding tone! (Only odd thing is, mine has a smaller soundhole than the one pictured here; soundhole diameter is exactly as wide as the fretboard at that point...wonder why?) And the string spacing at the bridge is as wide as my KoAloha tenor, which makes it great for fingerstyle playing. Money well spent!
