A key feature in all of the Pono tenor and baritone models is the dual-action adjustable truss rod. This is used to stabilize and adjust the lengthwise forward curvature (also called relief), of the neck. It can be adjusted from right inside the soundhole with an allen wrench provided. This is something you will probably not need to adjust. But over time and with humidity changes, it is a very useful option to have, and a very easy thing to adjust with little room for error.
Acacia is a family of trees that Hawaiian koa belongs to. This is not Hawaiian koa but comes from a very similar species found throughout Asia. This instrument was built on one of the Indonesian Islands with hands-on guidance and quality control from the Ko'olau Ukulele Company.
Pono instruments are constructed by the finest instrument makers and to Ko'olau specs and design. The gloss finish and woods used on this model are only the finest.

Sounds like Chocolate 1 people found this helpfulThis instrument is hands down, the best instrument I've ever played. It's got a beautiful rich deep tone - I use the description "chocolate" . Amazing! The action is perfect, the intonation is dead on, even with a capo. Love this uke so much!!!

Something to be proud of 0 people found this helpfuli've been primarily a guitar player for many years, then i discovered the ukulele. I've owned 2 tenors and a concert uke thus far, and love them...However, when it 's decision time to get me a BARITONE uke, i discovered the Ukulele Site and it helped me a great deal about the different brands available out there. I agonized for days, trying to decide which one is the right one for me. Then I saw Cory playing this Pono ABD, and it struck me. Not so cheap, but not so expensive either, and it looks great. So it came with a tight fitting Oahu case and Pono pick up. I didn't put it down for 3 hrs! that's how much fun I've had with it, just on the first day! So i carry it around and as I open the case in front of other people, they all say -WOW! and theyre equally impressed by the sound it creates. Thank you Ukulele Site for the nice set-up. I am a proud owner of this baby and no regrets.....!

The First to arrive to the Koolau Pono factory in Wahiawa,Hawaii 1 people found this helpfulI guess really who cares but me about this that I arrived to the factory and asked for the new Preta Acacia Baritone ABD and still was in bulk shipment being segregated for shipment. The grey Acacia handed to me by a Very distinguised old man was the ABD Baritone planned to ship to Maui. I got it with a pickup and a strap button for the neck. I had the feeling this ukulele was going to be in my family to be passed down to sons and or daughters. The Pono Baritone is an excellent instrument. If you decide to get one do yourself a favor and get all the bells and whistles for it. You will forget about the price as the years go by playing such a fine Pono Ukulele. Aloha Mike A.
