A key feature in all of the Pono tenor and baritone models is the dual-action adjustable truss rod. This is used to stabilize and adjust the lengthwise forward curvature (also called relief), of the neck. It can be adjusted from right inside the soundhole with an allen wrench provided. This is something you will probably not need to adjust. But over time and with humidity changes, it is a very useful option to have, and a very easy thing to adjust with little room for error.
Acacia is a family of trees that Hawaiian koa belongs to. This is not Hawaiian koa but comes from a very similar species found throughout Asia. This instrument was built on one of the Indonesian Islands with hands-on guidance and quality control from the Ko'olau Ukulele Company.
Pono instruments are constructed by the finest instrument makers and to Ko'olau specs and design. The gloss finish and woods used on this model are only the finest.

The Pono I played was a concert but it got me thinking that maybe a Pono baritone might be the way to go.I decided to give it a try and I was completely blown away by the Pono I received. It was so pretty and the sound was fantastic. All in all I've bought 4 ukes from the ukelelesite. Each one came with spot on setup !!! It takes a few extra days for the shipment to North Dakota but well worth the wait.

The sound is amazing, the action is perfect (thanks to the free, professional set up!) and I've been playing this uke every day since it arrived the day after Thanksgiving. Thanks to The Ukulele Site for having videos of their instruments. To me, sound is first, then looks then price (within reason). The Pono ABD met all three - I love it!

My 1st Uke! 1 people found this helpfulTried playing a Banjola, a banjo & guitar and have found this Uke to be the most satisfying instrument of the lot. What a wonderful full sound, be it mellow tones or something with a little bit of punch to the music, this Uke does it all. What a wonderful instrument. The wood is gorgeous and after Joel set this up for me, the strings are low and gentle on my fingers, making this a treat to play. I am pleasantly surprised at the quality! This is not my conception of the the Ukulele, which was born out of the days of Tiny Tim & "Tip Toe Through The Tulips"! This is truly an "instrument" meant to be enjoyed. Do yourself a favor & savor your own Uke, you won't regret it!
