The AT has been a hit for the last decade, but this latest version looks and sounds better than ever! It now has an ebony bridge, fingerboard, and faceplate. The sound is warm and full with wonderful projection.

Acacia is part of the same family of trees as Hawaiian Koa, and it comes from a very similar species found throughout Asia. This instrument was built on one of the Indonesian Islands, with hands-on guidance and quality control from the Ko'olau Ukulele Company. The finest instrument makers construct these instruments to Ko'olau specs and design. This satin finish is very clean. The woods selected for this model are beautiful and instrument grade, as well as cut and dried properly.

A key feature, in all of the Pono tenors and baritones, is the dual-action adjustable truss rod. The truss rod stabilizes and adjusts the lengthwise forward curvature, also called relief, of the neck. It can be easily adjusted from inside the soundhole using the included allen wrench. Over time and with humidity changes this is a very useful option to have.

I have played guitar for more than 20 years, but this was my first ukulele purchase. I am very pleased with this uke. The setup provided by HWS was fantastic. It plays very well, stays in tune, and the intonation is good all the way up the fretboard. I have no complaints at all - I love playing it. I chose this uku partially due to Andrew Kitakis' recommendation here: http://theukulelereview.com/2010/09/18/winner-best-ukulele-under-300-kala-asac-t-all-solid-acacia-wood-slot-head-tenor/

I've owned this uke for just over a year, and it still makes me smile whenever I pick it up. It resonates well with a low G, and sounds nice and full. I have had no buzz problems with Aquila strings (which I prefer to the Ko'olau strings on this instrument). This is a very solid, beautiful sounding instrument, especially for the price. I've seen people around the internet say that Ponos aren't the most playable, but this is my first tenor, and I felt at home with it very quickly.

What an outstanding ukulele! Fit and finish is flawless, the sound is amazing and the set up is perfect, for me anyway. This uke has such a wonderfully natural "woody" feel to it, a bright voice but with an underlying warmth as well. I find it to be well balanced in hand, with a wonderful shape to the neck. It projects very well with some nice volume and has great sustain to it. Articulate, you can clearly hear all notes when strumming or picking. The added feature of a truss rod is awesome as well. I have several ukes, some "high end" and at the end of the day the best compliment I can give is, that this is the one I reach for first.

I became interested in a uke after we bought a cheaper (Lanakai soprano) uke for our young grand daughter this Christmas from a store on eBay, and I started to play around with it. In no time I was spending hours researching uke's online for myself. What sold me was all the info HMS supplied, the tutorials, listening to Corey and Aaron great samples, and of course Joel's setup video. These guys obviously know how to translate a store to the online world! I decided HMS was the best place to order my own Uke for Christmas. Was a toss up between the Pono AT and the Kala ASAC-T (my second choice) tenors, but listening/watching Corey's videos made it easy to decide. My Pono arrive in just a few days (free shipping was much appreciated by the way!) I had also ordered an Oasis OH-18 humidifier which was delayed a few days so they threw in the Herco Humidifier in the mean time. Thats customer service! The Pono was exactly what I was hoping for and more. It's gorgeous! Love the look and feel of the acacia wood. Very posh! (I also preferred the flatter finish compared to the glossy finishes of some other Ukes). The workmanship was also flawless. I've been playing for about 10 days now, probably a bit too much as my fingers are still pretty raw lol. As my playing improves I am appreciating the great clear tone of this instrument. I know I made the right decision. No doubt I'll be ordering again from HMS!

I bought this Pono Tenor as my first Uke. It is more than I ever expected. It is very beautiful and solidly built. I can't put it down. The quality, sound and the excellent setup makes me want to keep practicing and practicing. Also, Hawaii Music Supply was amazing to work with, no troubles at all. Great communication and a smooth transaction with very quick shipping. I had my Uke and accessories only 2 days after they shipped.
